Today I was afforded the chance to reminisce at the house where I raised my children. It is a small modular home in a small community. The neighborhood is full of people raising families. Next door there is a duplex - which always seems to attract humans in their rawest form - poor, addictions, kids - yet I can only smile when I see these people - for they are living their lives. I do not think they realize how lucky they are. They have their kids - all looking like ragamuffins - running free, playing with stray cats, riding their bikes up and down the sidewalk - happy in the moment.
I thought back to the times of raising my own children there - and how I actually grew up there too. It is a journey for everyone not just the kids. The moms and dads are learning and growing too. Yes, I had many days that were not great in that house - but now I choose to remember the good times, like watching the kids playing in the yard - digging holes - yes I know it's crazy but my kids used to love to dig holes in the yard - big holes (the yard was mostly sand then) jump in the holes, god only knows the games they imagined in that house, hiding 16 Easter baskets in 1020 sq feet is not small task - but I am a good mom (most of the time - well OK 50% of the time, LOL), Christmas mornings there in the beautiful tiny house - stuffed to the gills with junk.
But what i remember most is my kids there, raising puppies there, being across the street from the school so I could see my kids - Location, location, location :) So what makes a home a home - the energy in it. We filled that house with love - for each other..... It's still a great house - yes it is a "cheap House" but you can have a good life in a cheap house full of love xoxo
Here's my recipe for a home take one mommy (and daddy) add four awesome souls throw in about four dogs for good measure and top it off with at least three cats, maybe a turtle or two add some obstacles to overcome = 's one house full of love - I can still feel it there...
